The thrilling Western conference finals concluded with the Golden State Warriors defeating the Oklahoma City Thunder 96- 88 in do or die game 7. They become only the 10th team to overcome a 3-1 deficit.
At times Russell Westbrook, Kevin Durant and the overall team size seemed to overwhelm the Warriors. However, in the last 3 games, Steph racked up 98 points, along with fellow splash brother Klay Thompson, and broke records en route of the 2nd straight western title.
They go on to face LeBron James and eastern champion Cleveland Cavaliers, setting up a rematch from last year.
The series will feature multiple MVP winners including LeBron and Steph respectively for first time in league history. This is the series we’ve all wanted and ultimately deserve. From Oklahoma city’s perspective the loss brings the scrutiny to Durant’s future decision of resigning to the team and addressing the status of keeping Westbrook as the team’s point guard.
The impending free agency season will be an interesting one due to teams having more money to spend on free agents.
