For the second consecutive year, Charles Gilyard, 34-year Real Estate professional, was awarded the Regional Vice President of the Year Award for the National Association of Real Estate Brokers (NAREB). NAREB is divided into 12 regions across the United States. Gilyard is Regional Vice President over Region VI, which encompasses Alabama, Florida and Georgia. This region comprises a membership of Realtists, mortgage bankers, and other related real estate professionals. His responsibilities include consulting local board presidents, educating buyers and sellers, increasing the membership, branding the organization, providing professional development, and participating in community giveback initiatives.
Organized in 1947, NAREB is the oldest Black trade organization in America. It was founded to address the concerns of real estate practitioners and to assure equal housing opportunities for all families. The 2016 edition of the State of Housing in Black America (SHIBA), a NAREB publication, addresses the decline of Black homeownership, the causes and solutions of which were recently shared at the Congressional Black Caucus in Washington, DC. Gilyard and other NAREB members had the opportunity to bring awareness of SHIBA to Black congregational leaders and many audience participants.
In his work as Regional Vice President, Gilyard’s efforts will be to increase awareness in his assigned states.
