Gillespie to Seek Candidacy for Chatham County Commission District 3

Bill Gillespie has announced his plan to seek the candidacy for the Chatham County Commission serving District 3. The Democratic Primary election will be held on July 31, 2012.

With a military background, including leadership experience, Gillespie retired from the U.S. Army in 2007 as a Lt. Colonel after serving our country for 23 years. He has led organizations of over 6,000 personnel and has managed operational maintenance and supply budgets exceeding $60,000,000.

Bill earned B.S. and M.A. degrees in Environmental Science from Towson University, in Maryland, and a Masters in Military Arts and Science in Military History, at the U.S. Army Combat Studies Institute, at the Command and General Staff College, Ft. Leavenworth, Kansas.

Gillespie has continued active involvement in the Savannah community, working with organizations such as: the American Red Cross, Rotary, Ancient Order of the Hibernians, Veterans of Foreign Wars, Historic Savannah Foundation, Telfair Academy, Downtown Business Association, Savannah Chamber of Commerce, Small Business Chamber, Savannah World Council, Coastal Clean-up, Sustainable Coast, NAACP, Hungry Club Forum and Working America. He is also a graduate of the City of Savannah Citizen’s Academy.
