Gamma Sigma Omega (GSO) Chapter of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated will host HBCU Sunday on March 17, 2019 at Branded Hearts Ministries, 975 Clinch Street (Hodge Elementary School) at 10:30 a.m. The purpose of this event is to expand awareness of Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCU) and to encourage financial support. GSO invites all guests to wear their HBCU T-Shirts and to make a commitment to support an HBCU.
In 2018, Dr. Glenda Glover became the 30th International President of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated and implemented new programs of service, which included “HBCU for Life: A Call to Action.” Each chapter of Alpha Kappa Alpha was challenged to focus on education with an emphasis on supporting HBCUs and their contributions to society. Gamma Sigma Omega Chapter and its non-profit foundation, Moving All Races To Higher Achievement (M.A.R.T.H.A.), Incorporated established an endowment at Savannah State University to ensure financial support for deserving students. On HBCU Sunday, GSO will provide information about the state of HBCUs and the HBCU experience. For more information about Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated visit www.aka1908.com. This event is open to the public.
