Former SCCPSS Teacher Of The Year Retires

Lolisa Joyner Chatham school system retired from the Savan nah on May 1. Mrs. Joyner taught 7th-grade ELA at Tompkins and Southwest Middle Schools where she was named 2007 District Teacher of the Year. She then served as academic coach at Beach High School, district professional learning coach, and as assistant principal at Jenkins High, Hesse K-8, and Esther F. Garrison, where she was honored with a State of Georgia merit bonus for excellence in school administration.

Her husband, Jerome, a retired Marine and retired Riverside County, CA, deputy sheriff, will be resigning from his position as a deputy sheriff with the Chatham County Sheriff’s Office on June 30. The couple look forward to volunteering, traveling, and enjoying life together.
