Bethesda Academy welcomes former NFL player and current Georgia Tech football team chaplain Derrick Moore as its keynote speaker for its 3rd Annual Scholarship Gala on May 20, 2016 at 6:30 p.m. The event will be held at the Bynuh’s Field at Bethesda Academy, 9520 Ferguson Avenue, Savannah, Ga., 31406. The evening promises a delightful dining experience and celebration of the school’s mission to provide an exemplary and holistic academic education to young men. Tickets are on sale now with proceeds going directly to the scholarship fund, helping to ensure Bethesda will continue to be an affordable option for its students today and in the future.

Moore is widely admired for delivering exceptional and empowering pre-game speeches, some of which have gone viral (collegespun.com/acc/georgia-tech/ video-georgia-tech-team chaplain Derrick Moore gave an unbelievable pregame speech-before-the-teams win-over-Miami). A former NFL player and student-athlete, Moore offers an insider’s perspective into the lives and hearts of the young people at Georgia Tech. Together with Georgia Tech’s head football coach, Paul Johnson, Moore also launched a special program called CLIMB or Championship Leadership Is My Behavior.

“To make the CLIMB requires leadership that leads,” said Moore. “Without it, the CLIMB simply won’t happen. It is exciting to learn about Bethesda’s focus on leadership. I look forward to being a part of the Scholarship Gala, where we will celebrate the students so close to graduation, as well as the organization’s 275 years of dedication to young men in Savannah.”

This year’s gala is also unique as the school is closing out its year long 275th anniversary celebration and saying goodbye to Bethesda Academy President Dr. David Tribble, who has served as the iconic school for boys headmaster for 25 years. Tribble has been instrumental in Bethesda’s strong stance as a relevant force within the academic community in Savannah, with 95 percent of its students graduating on time and 85 percent advancing to college.

“Bethesda would not be celebrating its 275th anniversary and providing our young men an opportunity and safe environment to flourish without the support of our donors and community patrons who believe in what we do,” said Tribble.
