Five SSU Volleyball Student-Athletes Named to MEAC All-Academic Team

The Savannah State volleyball team place five student-athletes on the 2018 Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference All Academic Team.

A total of 68 student athletes from the conference’s 12 institutions who achieved academic success during the 2017-18 academic year were named to the all conference squad.

SSU volleyball players earning academic honors were Tyran Chenault, Oneillia Fuller, Salma Gonzalez, Leiri Melendez and Karissa Tatum .

Chenault (business) is a red-shirt sophomore middle blocker from Lexington, Kentucky; Fuller (biology) is a sophomore middle blocker from Villa Rica, Georgia; Gonzalez (biology) is a sophomore setter from Isabela, Puerto Rico; Melendez (biology) is a sophomore libero from Ponce, Puerto Rico; and Tatum (business) is a sophomore right side who hails from LaFayette, Georgia.

MEAC sophomore, junior and senior student-athletes with a 3.0 or better cumulative grade point average, as well as transfer student-athletes who have been in residence at the institution for at least one year, are eligible for All-Academic accolades.
