“Running for My Life,” empowering youth to be ambassadors for Christ was key to Youth Convention. All ages of youth were in attendance, Saturday, September 16, 2017, at Historic Mt. Pleasant Missionary Baptist Church, Rev. Michael Paul Dickerson, Pastor, in Claxton, GA. Agnes McNeal, Youth Director and Wanda Chaplin, Children’s Coordinator, implemented activities and workshops where Jesus Christ was center. Instructors included
Barbara Baker, Nita Bell Baker, Sherita Boggs, Dorothy Bouligny, Willie Hall, Evangelist Brenda Lovett, Gwendolyn Arkwright, Angel Arkwright, Coretha Finley, and Rev. Paul Smith.
At the culmination of the convention, Rev. Phelicia Barnes gave a demonstrative message on sin. This style of speech delivery engaged the youth who sat, listened, and observed how sin affects life and how tempting and cunning the devil is.
The audience was truly blessed to hear children so boldly express the love of Jesus Christ in their speech, songs, praise dance, and mimes. These boys and girls for Christ were a testament for Christian adults to reach the unsaved boys and girls in our communities to bring them into the Christian fold. The First District is led by President, Rev. Stanford L. Anderson, I, and Emma J. Conyers, President, Women’s Auxiliary.
