First African to hold 28th Pastoral Anniversary

First African Baptist Church congregation will celebrate the 28th Pastoral Appreciation for Rev. and Mrs. Thurmond N. Tillman April 9-16, 2010. Rev. Tillman is the seventeenth pastor of this historic congregation and has the second longest tenure as pastor. Rev. Andrew Cox Marshall served as pastor for fortyfour years.

Festivities will begin on Friday, April 9th with a Fun Night at Frames-n-Games for a night of bowling with Tremont Temple, Second African and Clifton Baptist churches. Saturday, April 10th the congregation will show support for the pastor by participating in the National Neighborhood Census Blitz Day at the Kayton/Frazier Homes. Rev. Tillman is the Southeast Regional Director for the United States 2010 Census. On Sunday April 11th Rev. Oddie Luckett and Clifton Baptist Church will celebrate at the 10:30 a.m. worship experience. Rev. L. Perry McNeal and the Jerusalem Baptist Church, Groveland, GA will celebrate the pastor’s anniversary at the 3:30 p.m worship. Friday, April 16th the celebration will conclude with the 9th Annual T.N.T. Annual Community Outreach Golf Tournament at the Crosswinds Golf Course at 8:30 a.m.
