Effingham Loses A Rebel

 
 

On Saturday, July 7, Georgia State Patrol responded to a call concerning a crash on Kildee Lane in the Countryside Village mobile home park.

Effingham County teen, Demonte Xzayreon Lee, 18, was traveling southbound on Kildee Lane when Angelica Contreras, 22, made a left turn into his path and struck his motorcycle.

The former basketball player and star runningback for The Rebels Football Team at Effingham County High School died on impact with Contreras’ 2013 Nissan Versa. Officials say that Contreras is as fault and was not injured in the crash. Charges are likely to be placed.

Lee was a recent high school graduate with multiple scholarship offers to play college football. His friends say he was a great person with a great spirit.

He will be sadly missed by his loving family and friends. Funeral arrangements are incomplete at time of notice but will be announced at a later date by Smalls Funeral Home, Inc. “Family Serving Families”
