Chatham County Recorder’s Court Chief Judge Tammy Stokes released the findings of her comprehensive investigation into the original HR complaints as well as the operation of the court itself last Friday at a press conference held in front of the Chatham County Courthouse.

Atty. Charles Bowan, council for Judge Tammy Stokes, delivered the preface to the release of the official investigation indicating his passion for the truth and justice. He stated he was appalled at the City Attorney, Brooks Stillwell’s actions to specifically target Judge Stokes to have her removed as Chief Judge of Recorder’s Court.

In Judge Stokes prepared speech concerning the allegations, she expressed her anger but remain hopeful and encouraged by people who are standing by her at this time. She hopes that her report will present truth to the whole picture. “It is important to me as a person and as a Judge to be fair, balanced, forthcoming and honest. And I have diligently tried to bring these ideals to the table as I was drafting this report” said Judge Stokes.

Her request to the public is to “Read the report”, Judge Stokes emphasized.

The Supreme Court once again confirmed that the Superior Court judges exceeded their lawful authority and denied their Motion for Reconsideration. Even more troubling is the fact that the Superior Court judges apparently based their actions solely on a City report that relied on nothing but hearsay with no probative value. Now that the Chief Judge’s formal and official report into the subject HR complaints has been released and is based upon actual documented evidence, it is our hope and expectation that this matter will be resolved in a cooperative and constructive manner said Judge Stokes attorney, Charles Bowen.

Chatham County Recorder’s Court Chief Judge Tammy Stokes was reinstated as Chief Judge on Thursday, September 22. This action was in response to a decision by six superior court judges temporarily suspending Stokes as Chief Judge after a City of Savannah investigation into various allegations of personnel problems within the Recorder’s Court.
