Community Leaders Join Step Up Savannah Board



Six new members have joined the Step Up Savannah, Inc. governing board, reflecting the range of its collaborative partners: Business and government leaders, social service providers, and neighborhood leaders.

The collaborative is focused on moving poor families toward economic self sufficiency by targeting workforce development and training, and financial education.

The new board members include:Virginia Brown, executive director, Coastal Empire Habitat for Humanity; Helen Downing, civic leader; service includes board membership on Memorial University Medical Center, and as chair- man of the boards of SunTrust, Savannah , and the United Way of the Coastal Empire, among other organizations.; Kathy S. Love, Ph.D., president, Savannah Technical College, and former president, Flint River Technical College; Gianna Nelson, crime analyst for the Savannah Chatham Metropolitan Police Department; Mike Traynor, publisher, Savannah Morning News; and Dr. Diane Weems, chief medical officer, Coastal Health District/Chatham County.
