Sunday, January 19, 2014 the Citywide Memorial Worship Service will be held at the Asbury United Methodist Church located 1201 Abercorn Street, at 5:00 p.m. The Speaker will be Rev. Andrew L. Cooper, Pastor of the Bethel Missionary Baptist Church, Pineland, South Carolina. All members of the clergy are invited to participate in the Memorial March of the Clergy. Pastor Andrew L. Cooper is a native of Waycross, Georgia. He is the son of Deacon Eddie L. Cooper and the late Missionary Claudia M. Cooper. From childhood, Reverend Cooper was a member of the First Born Church of the Living God (International), under the leadership of the late Bishop H. J. Echols.
Pastor Cooper accepted the Lord Jesus Christ as his personal savior at the age of twelve. During his formative years, he served as a junior deacon working alongside saved men who mentored his heart of caring and service. At age 17, he received his calling as God revealed to him the “ministry of soul-winning.” God’s abiding call has been a driving and constant companion to him through the years. Pastor Cooper believes that service to others is a reflection of the heart of God. Pastor Cooper wholeheartedly believes in family. He is married to Beatrice D. Cooper and together they have two adult children, Angela (veteran and college student) and Andrew (corporate lawyer). Pastor Cooper has been in pastoral ministry twelve years and currently serves as the Pastor of Bethel Missionary Baptist Church in Pineland, SC. Pastor Cooper also serves as an executive board member of the Mount Carmel Baptist Association.
