City Opens New Playground At Joseph Tribble Park

City and neighborhood leaders today opened the newest playground in the City of Savannah during a ribbon cutting ceremony in Windsor Forest. The new equipment was added to Joseph Tribble Park, a 51-acre recreation area, including an 11-acre lake, that was added to southside Savannah in 2007.

Monday’s, November 2, event was hosted by Alderman Tony Thomas, who represents the 6th District, where the park is located. He was joined by fellow members of City Council, City staff, and neighborhood residents.

“We’re so very proud of this park,” Thomas said. “I refer to it as the jewel of Windsor Forest. We have opportunities for exercise, for picnicking, for fishing and now this wonderful playground for kids of all ages. Today you see the results of our vision and hard work in this park which will serve so many in our community.”

The City has added seven playgrounds throughout the City over the past two years. The City now maintains 57 different playgrounds, in addition to nearly 200 acres of parks and more than a dozen community centers. For the past five years, the City has been named a “Playful City USA” by the nonprofit Ka- BOOM! organization for increasing access to play opportunities in our community.
