Chess Tournament To Benefit Savannah Children’s Choir

Savannah Children’s Choir’s Premier Choir member Skyler Kelly has recently been certified by the United States Chess Foundation (USCF) with the ability to bring rated tournaments back to Savannah.

However, as a thoughtful way to give back to an organization he passionately believes in, Skyler has decided to host an unrated tournament with entry fees benefiting the SCC’s Travel Scholarship Fund.

“We were thrilled when Skyler brought this opportunity to us, and so complimented that he wanted to do it to benefit the choir,” commented Roger Moss, Director of Development. Scheduled for Saturday, February 28 from 9:15 a.m. – 5 p.m. at St. Paul’s Episcopal Church, 1802 Abercorn (at 34th) the non-rated tournament will offer chess enthusiasts of any age or skill level a way to play with others with a minimal entry fee of $5. USCF membership is not needed to participate in this tournament, and all are welcome. Five rounds will be played, with a registration cap at 50 players.

To register, go to Skyler’s website, wwwclubcheckmate.com, or visit www.savannahchoir.org for more information.
