Chatham County Youth Commission Complete 2018 Annual Legislative Tour!

 
 
The Chatham County Youth Commission have returned from their very successful 2018 Annual Legislative Tour to Washington, DC, Philadelphia, PA and New York City.

On Sunday, March 4, 2018, the Youth Commission traveled north to Washington, DC to visit the Mount Vernon, the home of the nation’s First President, George Washington, the Jefferson, Lincoln & King Memorials and the National Air & Space Museum. The next day, March 5, the Youth Commission will visited Philadelphia, PA to & toured Independence Hall, the Liberty Bell and Lincoln Financial Field, the home of the 2018 Super bowl Champions, Philadelphia Eagles. On March, the Youth Commission ventured to New York to tour Madison Square Garden, the Brooklyn Bridge, the New York City Transit Museum and taking in an evening performance of “The Lion King” on Broadway before appearing on the NBC Today Show and returning back to Savannah.

The Chatham County is a nationally known and recognized governmental youth leadership program. Founded 26 years ago by Dr. Priscilla D. Thomas and directed by Van R. Johnson, II, this program has been replicated in Fulton County (Atlanta), GA, Alachua County (Gainesville), FL, Savannah, GA (Savannah Youth Council), Prince George’s County, MD, Cass County (Fargo), ND and Dougherty County, (Albany), GA, Riverdale, GA and Newnan, GA, Miami-Dade County, FL, DeKalb County, GA, Jasper County, SC, Gwinnett County, GA, & Tybee Island, GA.
