Carlos Millen Represents USA At 2017 Youth Pan American Games

Coastal Empire Weightlifting Club Athlete, Carlos Millen and Coach Kerri Goodrich, Executive Director of Performance Initiatives, Inc.traveled this week to Palmira, Colombia along with 15 other teammates and their coaches to compete in the 2017 Youth Pan American Championships October 28-November 4. Millen lifted on Oct, 31 at 6PM local time for his first time on the international competition stage completing his snatch lifts of 93Kg, 98Kg and finishing with personal record (PR) of 101Kg or 222.2 Lb. Finishing the evening with Clean and Jerk with one attempt at 122Kg, completing his second attempt of 122Kg and missing his final lift of 128Kg. His efforts resulted in combined lift of 223Kg, 5th place and PR Snatch.

“I’m really proud of Carlos and I know his classmates and teammates are as well. Carlos has worked very hard both in the gym and in school to make this happen. For his first time in an international competition, we’re very proud of him and look forward to his continued success, “ said Kerri Goodrich.

“The week has been a great experience for me I have learned so much on my journey leading up to this trip to Colombia to represent the United States and my hometown, Savannah, Georgia, “ said Carlos Millen.

“Carlos’s experience has been part of his journey at Performance Initiatives where he has a support network of team mates from the Coastal Empire Weightlifting Team and staff/volunteers that help the kids in all aspects of life.” remarked Kerri Goodrich
