Cable Hired As SSU Assistant Athletic Director for Compliance

Savannah State Director of Athletics, Sterling Steward, Jr., announced the hiring of Jason Cable as Assistant Athletics Director for Compliance. Cable will also serve as Game Operations Manager.

Cable comes to SSU from Jackson State where he served as Assistant Director of Compliance since 2010. From 2009-10, he worked at Livingstone as Associate Director of Compliance and Champs Life Skills Coordinator. Before that he worked at his alma mater Alcorn State.

At Alcorn State he worked as Assistant Athletic Director (2008-09), Health and Physical Education Instructor (2004-09), Assistant Men’s Basketball Coach (2004-08) and Graduate Assistant Men’s Basketball Coach(2003-04). As an undergraduate at Alcorn State, Cable was a member of the men’s basketball team.

The Huntsville, Alabama native was a member of the 1999-00 Southwestern Athletic Conference championship team, was named 2001 SWAC Player of the Week, was a member of the 2001- 02 SWAC tournament championship team and was named the SWAC 2001-02 Offensive Player of the Year. Cable is a member of the ASU 1,000-Points Club and is ranked 26th on the all-time scoring list with 1,196 career points.

A 1999 graduate of J. O. Johnson High School, Cable received his bachelor’s degree in political science from Alcorn State in 2003 and master’s degree in secondary education from ASU in 2005.

Cable is a member of the Alcorn Alumni Association, Fellowship of Christian Athletes and Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Inc.
