  1. On one level I can feel good that someone I voted for won an election. Such is the case with Mr. Antwan Lang. However any elation I had got tempered by Mr. Lang’s being away from the office due to military service. Who is going to represent my interests on the Board of Elections with his absence? In the system of American elections, it is government of, by and for the people. It is not government by proxy. Mr. Lang will not be able to: fax, email, Federal Express, UPS, Certified or First Class Mail in his vote. He will not even be able to conference call his vote. In essence an empty chair is going to be representing me because the office holder will not be there. In 2022, I will remember this absence of Mr. Lang’s. He will not get my vote again.
