Blake Wins First Place at the Kingdomwood International Film Festival

Gospel Music Is…”-a documentary produced and directed by Tiffany Blake won first place in the Short Documentary Category at the Annual Kingdomwood International Film Festival held at the JW Marriot in Buckhead – Atlanta on October 6-8, 2017. Featured in this documentary is Savannah’s own Mr. E. Larry McDuffie, Reverend Matthew Southall Brown, Sr., the late Ben Tucker, Bishop Thomas Sills, Zion, Porschia and many great gospel soloists, and choirs of Savannah, Georgia. Tiffany along with many filmmakers presented their films to the audience at the festival’s Daytime Celebration Gala and also participated in Q&A sessions for their films. The festival was filled with red carpet events, many film screenings, workshops, and panels. Filmmakers from across the country, came together to display products that capture the unique and often compelling voice and vision of faithbased film production.

Kingdomwood International Film Festival (KIFF), originally known as Kingdomwood Christian Film Festival, is a 501c (3) organization. The festival was founded in 2008 by business partners, Audrey Thomas and Joe Williams. Kingdomwood strives to equip filmmakers with tools and resources useful and necessary to navigate the film industry in general and faith-based film productions. Workshops, panel discussions, audience screenings, and conversations with industry leaders offer unbeatable exposure, and information. The festival culminates with an Awards ceremony that honors excellence in faithbased filmmaking. During the festival, founder Audrey Thomas expressed that “Each year the festival takes on new and interesting dynamics, presents an exciting roster of films to screen, and supports participation of industry professionals who are eager to share information with the filmmakers.”

Kingdomwood was also excited to welcome Georgia’s Film & TV Executive, Lee Thomas who addressed the topic of Georgia’s booming production. Lee Thomas is the Deputy Commissioner of the Georgia Film, Music & Digital Entertainment Office, a division of the Georgia Department of Economic Development. Thomas also sits on Governor Nathan Deal’s Executive Leadership Committee.
