The Black History Scholars Bowl (BHSB) was created to teach young people about African-American history in a significant, meaningful, and impacting way. The Black History Scholars Bowl is the brainchild of Alderwoman Carol Hodges Bell. Teams from five Savannah-Chatham
County Public middle schools will compete in the Black History Scholars Bowl. Those schools include Myers, Mercer, West Chatham, Southwest, and the STEM Academy @Bartlett. Students will demonstrate their knowledge of American and local history from an African-American perspective in a quiz bowl.
The Preliminary and Championship rounds will take place at the Beach Institute African American Cultural Center, 502 E. Harris Street, in Savannah on Saturday, February 23, 2019, at 12:00 noon. The event is free and open to the public.
