Bill and Melinda Gates Millennium Scholar To Attend Tuskegee

Keyarria Mack, 18, of Arabia Mountain High School, Lithonia, GA will be attending Tuskegee University in Tuskegee, Alabama in the fall as a Bill and Melinda Gates Millennium Scholar. She will be pursuing a degree in Electrical Engineering with a minor in Physics.

Keyarria is one of a thousand scholars selected from 57,000 applicants and of four scholars awarded from Arabia Mountain High’s 100% graduating class where she graduated in the top ten percent and earned recognition as a Superintendent Scholar, Beta Scholar, Economic Scholar and CTAE Scholar (Engineering). She is also a member of the National Honor Society, Beta Club, and recipient of the Presidential Award. In addition to superior academic performance, she is heavily involved in extraand co-curricular activities. She was the Treasurer of Georgia Technology Students of America (TSA), Captain of the Emeralds (AMHS flag team), Co-Editor of the Ram Guide, and a debutante in the 1st Augural Covington Area Alumnae Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Incorporated Cotillion.

Keyarria gains inspiration from the biblical scripture, Isaiah 40:31, “But those wait upon the LORD will renew their strength; they will mount up on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not faint.”

Keyarria’s parents are Alethea Mack and Kevin Washington, her grandparents are, Geraldine Mack-Baker, Dr. & Mrs. Percy A. Mack, Jr., and Ms. Mozella Washington, and Godparents are Deacon and Mrs. Joseph Carter, Sr. She also is supported by her family in Christ at Tremont Temple Missionary Baptist Church (Savannah).
