Bethel A.M.E. Church, 1814 E. 38th St., will hold its Annual Laymen’s Day on July 18th, 2010. The speaker for this occasion will be David Anderson, Sr.
A military man, Anderson served the U.S. Army over twenty three years. He retired from the Army as a Sergeant Major (E9) in September 1984.
While in the military, Bro. Anderson received numerous awards, including the Purple Heart for wounds in combat . He served two terms in Vietnam.
He was elected a City Councilman in Hinesville, Georgia, January 2000 and continues to serve to this present day. In his first eight years, he served the city as Mayor Pro Tem.
Bro. Anderson is a member of Bethel A.M.E. Church, Hinesville, Georgia, where he serves in many capacities, i.e., Steward, Adult Sunday School Teacher, Instructor of New “Members Class, Member of the Sons of Allen,and Member of the Local Lay Organization where he serves as Director of Lay Activities.
