Attorney Sara Pratt To Provide Keynote Address At 20th Annual Fair Housing Luncheon

The Savannah Chatham County Fair Housing Council will hold its 20th Annual Fair Housing Luncheon & Awards Luncheon on Friday, April 29, 2016 at the EOA Administration Building at 1120 May Street. Doors open at 11:30 AM. The event will begin at 12:00 noon and conclude at 2:00 PM. The speaker for this year’s event will be Sara Pratt, current Counsel with Relman, Dane & Colfax, and former Deputy Assistant Secretary for Enforcement and Programs and Senior Advisor to the Assistant Secretary at the Department of Housing and Urban Development’s Office of Fair Housing and Equal Opportunity.

Traditionally, April has been recognized as Fair Housing Month to coincide with the signing of the federal Fair Housing Act. The local theme for this year’s event is “Fair Housing: Shared Opportunity in Every Community.”

The winner of the 2016 William K. Broker Good Citizen Award will also be announced during the luncheon. This annual award is presented to recognize a local citizen’s exemplary efforts to further the cause of fair housing. Additionally, the 2016 Fair Housing Poster Contest winners will be announced at the event. The contest is open to all 6th through 8th grade students in Savannah/ Chatham County.

The Fair Housing Council was formed to provide equal housing opportunity without discrimination based on race, color, religion, national origin, sex or gender, familial status or disability. The Council annually recognizes the passage of the Fair Housing Act in April.
