Asbury Memorial UMC Presents Local Talent With Silent Auction

Asbury Memorial United Methodist Church (UMC) is slated to host a ‘Springtime Revue & Silent Auction’ fundraising event beginning at 6 p.m. Saturday, May 12 at the church, 1008 East Henry St. (at Waters) in Savannah.

This new initiative for the church is open to everyone at 6 p.m. when the silent auction opens. Silent auction items include beach and mountain getaways, works of art, fishing, boating and dining experiences, plus professional services from local businesses. The revue kicks off at 7:15 p.m. with singers and musicians from the Savannah community who will entertain the audience with song, standup and slapstick comedy, and The Gretchen Greene dancers will dazzle guests. Tim Steinhauser will serve as emcee for the evening. Guests will have the opportunity to enjoy delicious desserts during the show’s intermission.

“This will be a lovely evening that everyone will enjoy. We are thrilled to have people outside of our congregation supporting us in this event, such as Rabbi Robert Haas who will perform stand-up comedy,” said congregation member and Silent Auction organizer Margaret Cook- Levy.

Funds raised from the Silent Auction will support the church’s mission fund. Asbury Memorial UMC is committed to getting involved in the community and serving individuals who need a helping-hand.

Proceeds raised from the ‘Springtime Revue’ ticket sales will benefit the church’s initiative to build an elevator in the church, making second floor meeting and class rooms more accessible to the congregation’s handicap and elderly members.

“The main idea behind this event is for people – congregation and community members, locals and visitors alike – to come together and enjoy the delightful entertainment Savannah has to offer for a wonderful cause,” said Combs.

Admission to this event costs $15 per person, or $5 for kids under the age of 12. For more information about this event or Asbury Memorial UMC, please visit www.asburymemorial.org or call 912-233-4351.
