Asbury Memorial UMC Announces 2017 Vacation Bible School

Asbury Memorial United Methodist Church has announced plans for its annual Vacation Bible School (VBS) set for 6-9 p.m. Sunday through Friday, June 4-9, 2017 at the church, 1008 E. Henry St. in downtown Savannah.

This year’s theme, VBS Hero Central, will take kids on awesome quests alongside some of their favorite Bible heroes as they discover the qualities that make them truly heroic in God’s eyes. This adventure will use music, science, crafts, heroic recreation activities, and Bible stories to help kids (and leaders) discover their strength in God.

At VBS, students enjoy interactive, Bible-based fun as they discover their strength in God and explore how to serve Him and his mission. Throughout the week, following an opening assembly, the heroes (students) will make their way to the “Bible Story Headquarters” to study God’s word before they expand on their lessons by participating in arts, crafts and singing activities. They’ll also enjoy some physical activity and share a dinner prepared by volunteers every evening.

Participants will have the opportunity to share their VBS experience with the Asbury Memorial UMC congregation at 11:15 a.m. Sunday, June 11 during a special VBS worship service.

Cheri Hester, wife of Asbury Memorial UMC Pastor Billy Hester, has coordinated VBS for 20 years.

Asbury Memorial UMC VBS is open to all children in kindergarten through sixth grade and costs $15 per child. However, there is a 60-person limit to ensure a personalized experience for each participant, so please register soon.
