The Coastal Jazz Association held their annual Christmas Day Concert last Thursday at The Savannah Station to a sold out crowd. The concert featured guest musicians including the legendary trombonist Fred Wesley who played with James Brown and the Parliament Funkadelics. Songstress Gina Renee serenaded the audience with Christmas Carols and jazz favorites. Jazz musician, historian and jazz mentor Teddy Adams was honored to present several of his former students who showcased their musical talents.

During the concert, a silent auction was held featuring a charcoal drawing of the late Ben Tucker by local artist Artie Milton. The proceeds will benefit the Coastal Jazz Association’s scholarship fund.

Guest contemporary/abstract artist Sonja Robinson painted several art pieces in real time while being inspired by the jazz sounds that filled the room. She recently moved to Savannah from St. Louis, Mo. Her art consist of customized home decor as well as live performances with music. A free art exhibit and sale featuring a collection of works by Sonja Robinson will be held on Friday, January 30, 6-10pm and Saturday, January 31, 11am-2pm and 6-10pm at 409 E.
