The 8th Annual Kayak for a Kure will take place on Saturday, August 29, starting at the Butterbean Beach Pavilion. Registration is at 8 and the paddle starts at 9:00 a.m. The fee is $50 and includes live music and lunch by Chipotle after the 3-mile paddle to the UGA Marine Extension Aquarium, as well as trolley transportation back to the starting point. Organized by Dave Mason, a former World Whitewater Champion, this event is a tribute to his mentor and friend, Hugh H. Armstrong, Sr., who passed away from complications of diabetes.
