Thursday, April 4, 2013 in Student Union Ballroom C on the Savannah State University campus a Diplomatic Policy and Service Lecture will be held by Linda-Thomas Greenfield, director general of the U.S. Foreign Service and director of Human Resources.
A career member of the Foreign Service for more than 30 years, Thomas-Greenfield was the U.S. ambassador to Liberia from 2008-2012, when she was appointed to her current post by Pres. Barack Obama. From 2006- 2008, she served as principal deputy assistant secretary in the Bureau of African Affairs, and was deputy assistant secretary in the Bureau of Population, Refugees and Migration from 2004-2006. Thomas-Greenfield has also served in Jamaica, Nigeria, The Gambia, Kenya, Pakistan and Switzerland.
The lecture event is being held in conjunction with the inauguration festivities of SSU Pres. Cheryl D. Dozier.
