Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc., Sigma Tau Chapter, Ends a Successful Year

Sigma Tau Chapter of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated at Armstrong Atlantic State University, ended 2010 with many accolades for its programs and community services.

The year started in January with “A Day of Service” in Tremont Park. They participated with EOA, Gamma Sigma Omega Chapter of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc., and other community organizations in renovating homes by painting and cleaning the years.

This was for MLK’s Day. They ended the year in December with the sorors participating in “Greenbriar’s

Gift Wrapping” program at Savannah Mall and volunteering at “The 100 Celebrity Men Who Cook” event.

Sigma Tau participated in many activities and received many awards during the year. Among the activitieswere: Working with the seniors at Moses Jackson Golden Age Center, preparing brunch at the Ronald McDonald House, conducting a Clothes Drive and donating the clothes to the Safe Shelter, conducting activities for the prevention of Diabetes, HIV-Aids, Leukemia and Breast Cancer. They received awards at the Regional Conference in

Atlanta; the Boule Conference in St. Louis, Missouri; and the Cluster Conference in Charleston, SC.

On November 21, 2010, Sigma Tau Chapter initiated 14 beautiful young ladies on Armstrong’s campus. They are: Sydnei Bacon, Jontavia Branson, Amber Brown, Ellen Evans, Laveda Farrior, Alicia Fultz, Alexia Grimes, Ebony Irvin, Andrea Johnson, Chelsea Larkins, Brittney Middleton, Nicole Neal, Lekara Simmons and Tanesha Sloan.

Sigma Tau Chapter of Alpha Kappa Alpha will continue “to be a service to all mankind” in 2011.
