Junior forward Kaylee Allen led the Savannah State University women’s basketball team with 12 points as the Lady Tigers (1- 4) fell to University of Florida (3-3) 90-40 on the Final Day of the Savannah Invitational in the Civic Center on Thanksgiving Day.
The Cincinnati, Ohio native led the team during the team averaging 12.7 points per game in three games with 3.3 rebounds per game. Freshman guard Heniaya Moton scored 11 points and recorded three rebounds, while freshman center Alexxus Sowell recorded her fourth consecutive 10-plus rebound game with 10 rebounds.
Florida scored the first seven points of the first quarter to take a 7-0 lead with 8:08 remaining in the quarter, but a Moton basket got SSU on the board to cut the lead to five points, 7-2, with 7:40 left. The Gators outscored SSU 17-4 during the rest of the quarter to take an 18-point lead, 24-6, after the first quarter.
The Lady Tigers travel to Statesboro, Ga., to face Georgia Southern University Wednesday at 6:30 p.m.
