As the holiday season approaches, Sigma Tau Chapter of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated continues to support the Savannah community by giving back to organizations in need. On Monday, December 2, 2013, they along with members of Gamma Sigma Omega Chapter served dinner to 85 residents at Old Savannah City Mission. While serving they noticed the absent of enough silverware (forks) for the residents. They left with the intention of “continuing to give service to all man-kind”. On Friday, Christian Upkins, the chairperson for the Global Poverty committee and the Advisor, Audrey Barnes Singleton, returned with two decorated Christmas boxes filled with silverware (forks, spoons and knives) to serve up to 100 people. The presentation was made to Mrs. Cornell Stiles, Director of Development & Thrift Operations, and Mr. Julius White, cook of the Mission. Mrs. Stiles expressed her appreciation for the gift. Sigma Tau Chapter of Alpha Kappa Alpha serves dinner at the shelter the first Monday of each month.

Sigma Tau Chapter is located on the campus of Armstrong Atlantic State University and is under the leadership of Patrese Jackson, President and Audrey Barnes Singleton, Graduate Advisor. Jatinique Lucas is the Ivy Leaf Reporter.
