The 90th Annual Convention, Educational Forum, and Table Top Expo of Georgia Funeral Service Practitioners Association, Inc. will be held at The Classic Center in Athens Georgia on May 17-20, 2015.
This year’s conference theme is “Lead One Teach One”. Funeral Directors, Embalmers, and Mortuary Students from across the state will share 3 days of engaging new ideas, share insights, and discuss challenges in funeral service. While in Athens, the group will also have a fun-filled Hawaiian Luau at Graduate Athens, as well as, recognize the state Mortician of the Year in a black-tie Masquerade Awards Ball at the Classic Center.
Georgia Funeral Service Practitioners Association, formally called Georgia Colored Funeral Directors and Embalmers Association was formed in 1925 in Macon Georgia. The name changed to its present name in 1939. The association is divided into nine districts. Each district holds its own district meeting and reports its progress at the annual convention.
Rev. David T. Batts, manager of Gardenview Chapel in Athens serves as this year’s Convention Chairman. The Chairperson of the Board, Marie Goolsby, President, Quentin Barrett, and the entire official family of Georgia Funeral Service Practitioners Association, Inc. are excited to be in the “Classic City” and look forward to rewarding conference experience.
