The Sixth Episcopal District, African Methodist Episcopal Church celebrates Founder’s Day 2/8/2018 thru 2/10/2018. The public is invited! The agenda includes an Opening Worship Service at 7:00 pm on February 8th with the AMEC Historiographer, The Rev. Dr. Teresa L. Fry Brown preaching. Noon Day Service on February 9th’s preacher is an itinerant elder from Gray, GA – The Rev. Lequint Caswell and the preacher for the Closing Service at 7:30 pm on February 9th is The Rev. Dr. Carolyn A. Knight, Founder and President of Can Do! Ministries. “Jam for Jesus” (where the youth of the church share their many talents) will be held immediately following Worship Service. A Founder’s Day parade with bands, floats, vehicles and walking units will follow a route from Greater Gaines AME Church on May Street, along Martin Luther King, Jr. BLVD on Saturday, February 10th at 9 a.m., closing out this historic week-end. All Worship Services will be held at St. James AME Church, 632 East Broad ST 912-236-2051. The host pastor for this year’s Founder’s Day activities is The Reverend Scottie Swinney, and the host presiding elder is The Reverend Catherine Mathis, Savannah South District.
