Th e King-Tisdell Cottage Foundation Inc. is pleased to announce the 2016 Honorees for the 2016 KTCF Awards Gala to be held on Saturday, September 17, 2016, 7:30 p.m. at the New Student Center at Savannah State University. The 2016 King-Tisdell Cottage Foundation Honorees are:
Leopold Adler, II Historic Preservation Award: Mrs Vaughnette Goode-Walker, Owner/Operator of Footprints of Savannah; King-Tisdell Cottage Arts Award: Dr.Robert L. Stevenson, Retired Drama Professor, Savannah State University; Beach Institute Education Award: Dr. Cheryl D. Dozier, President, Savannah State University and Dr. Linda M. Bleicken, President, Armstrong State University; and W. W. Law Legacy Award: Honorable Floyd Adams, Jr. (Posthumously), Mayor, City of Savannah (1996-2003).
The Annual Awards Gala is the Foundation’s major fund-raiser for assuring continuity of operations and personnel. For over 34 years, the Foundation has presented an array of art, history and culture about the African American experience in this region of S. E. Georgia and the Sea Islands of South Carolina. Working collaboratively, it seeks to foster interracial understanding and appreciation of all cultures. Our two facilities, The King-Tisdell Cottage (1896) and the Beach Institute (1867) are visited by over 12,000 persons annually.
