Descendants and relatives of the Rev. Dr. Emanuel King Love (known as E.K.) – 1850-1900 will hold its 1st Annual Love Family Reunion in Savannah June 14-18, 2013. E.K. Love was pastor of First African Baptist Church (Savannah) 1885- 1900 and authored “The History of the First African Baptist Church”, a book read and sold worldwide.

E.K. was also a political leader/community activist, a civil rights forerunner in the state of Georgia, most notably in Savannah, and a prominent minister, having served as President of the National Baptist Convention in the 1800’s. E.K. Love showed an avowed interest in education, graduating from Morehouse College during its early formation as an institution of higher learning for African-American youth, and was a confirmed member of the founding board to establish Savannah State University.
