Savannah State University’s (SSU) 187th Commencement will be held on Saturday, December 12, at 10 a.m. in Tiger Arena. Approximately 250 students will graduate with bachelor’s and master’s degrees during the ceremony. The commencement speaker will be Georgia State Senator Lester Jackson. Jackson is a three term senator representing the second district of Georgia. A Savannah native, Jackson graduated from Meharry Medical College in 1985. He was commissioned as a naval officer, serving seven years as a dental officer for the United State Navy. He is now a practicing family dentist and CEO of Coastal Health Solutions.
Overflow locations are Torian Auditorium in the Howard Jordan Building, the Chan Auditorium in Whiting Hall and room 115 in the Social Sciences Building. The ceremony will be available by webcast at each overflow location.
