100 Black Men of Savannah 23rd Annual Gala

 
 

On Saturday, April 20th, 2019 the 100 Black Men of Savannah, Inc. hosted our 23rd Annual Grand Scholarship Gala. The event was attended by over 350 lucky individuals which included mentees, members, friends, and supporters of the 100 along with our National CEO Mr. John Armstrong. The event started with Mr. Austin Parker-Heriott performing a trumpet solo of the Nergo national anthem. Our co-hosts the lovely Weslyn “Lady Mahogany” Bowers and Mr. Derek Mallow who led us through an awesome program which focused on our theme “Deep Roots, Strong Tree.” This included the presentation of multiple scholarships to well deserving students. MegaGenesis scholarships were awarded to Nicholas Fields, Taylor Gibson, Kaydriana Simpson, and Aisha Duck. The AARP scholarship award winner was Alexis Williamson who maintains a 4.0 G.P.A. and who is ranked as number one in her class at Savannah Arts. Nicholas Fields was also awarded the Dulaney Scholarship. The evening concluded by honoring community leaders as follows: Mentoring – Stephen Murphy, Education – Dr. Betina Tate, Community Hero – Morris Pollard and Community Service – State Rep.
